An advent calendar that ends in a finished book

The advent calendar holds 24 drawings behind numbered tear-off pages, one for each day from December 1 to Christmas Eve. Each one is a single evening of coloring, so the countdown becomes a small daily habit rather than a chocolate eaten in ten seconds.

Most advent calendars are over the moment the door opens. This one asks for twenty minutes, every evening, for three and a half weeks. By Christmas Eve the person has a full book of pages they finished themselves, and usually the habit of sitting down after dinner without a phone.

It uses the same one-color format as every other book here: one marker, dotted guides that show which shapes to fill, and nothing to decide. That matters in December more than in any other month, when every other evening is already full of choices.

I thought it would be boring just using one color, but the concept is brilliant. I have not touched my phone after dinner since it arrived.

The Christmas edition and the winter books that follow it

The Christmas edition gathers winter and holiday scenes in one book to work through across the month, at your own pace rather than one page a day. When it is done, the two winter editions carry the same season into January and February.

The difference with the advent calendar is rhythm. The calendar gives one page per day and stops on the 24th. The Christmas edition has no schedule: three pages on a quiet Sunday, none during a busy week, and it is still there on the 27th.

For someone who already colors, the winter editions are the natural next step. The subjects stay seasonal, snow, forests and long evenings, so the book keeps making sense well after the decorations come down.

Bought it for my mother and ended up ordering a second copy for myself. We now color on the phone together on Sunday evenings.

Something for the slow days between Christmas and New Year

The week after Christmas is the one stretch of the year when most people are home with nothing planned. A book that sits on the table and gets picked up by whoever is around turns those days into something relaxing rather than another round of screens.

This is where the format works for a whole household. Everyone needs one marker, nobody needs to know how to draw, and a page can be shared or passed between two people. Grandparents and teenagers end up at the same table, which rarely happens with a phone in each hand.

If you are buying for a family rather than one person, two different editions on the table work better than one: a dense page for whoever wants to disappear into it, a more open one for whoever has ten minutes before lunch.

I truly loved how stress free and relaxing that it was. I could literally choose to use one color or change it up to what I felt like doing. No swatches or color matching needed! Lastly the quality of the pages and the book itself, was topnotch.

I started off buying the first book and loved it. It is so calming. Any stress you feel is put aside for awhile. I don’t do it 10 minutes. I nearly finished my first book already so I had to buy more. Be warned it's addictive.

I find myself constantly reaching for this coloring book. It helps me zone out like I would doomscrolling on my phone,

but without the intense dopamine negatively wiring my brain!

I have loads of colouring books but half of them are uncultured as I start stressing about colours and how to colour it in. But one colour colouring books are a genius idea.
